I was 7-years-old. It was before school, and my mam told me about a new film being made named Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone.
She knew I loved the idea of magic and fantasy, and I think was surprised that I hadn't heard of it before. I was an avid early-reader, but I had never picked up a Harry Potter book before. I grew up living opposite a bus stop, and remember a very young and bespectacled Daniel Radcliffe blown up on the side of a double-decker bus advertising the first film. I saw Philosopher's Stone, and the rest really is history.
I read the first book in record time. I thought it was the best thing I had ever read, and so wanted to read it again at school. The Harry Potter franchise was in its early days back then, but my mam must have sensed its popularity and what it would later become. She worried my copy of Philosopher's Stone would be stolen, so only agreed to allow me to take it in once she had written my name on the inside cover.
I couldn't honestly say how many times I have read Philosopher's Stone, but it's quite telling in how cracked and tatty the binding and cover is. I prefer to say it is "well-loved."
At that time only the first four books had been published, and I made sure to get the later three on the days they were published. I poured over them, reading until the early hours. I was a night-owl even then.
I'd consider myself a rather reserved and modest person, but I will gladly show-off my Harry Potter trivia. It's quite extensive. I'm one of those people who can't sit quietly through the films for more than two minutes without saying "you know, in the book they..." I just can't help it!
I'm now 22, and probably more obsessed with the Wizarding World than I've ever been before. I can't thank JK Rowling enough for the light she brought into my life. I'm so glad my mam thought to mention the film to me that one day before school.

I found a rather impressively-named tag on another blog, so here are my answers to "The Ultimate Harry Potter Tag." I've not answered them all, so consider this a bespoke version. The basics are all covered!
Favourite book?
My favourite book is probably Prisoner of Azkaban. I remember reading it for the very first time in my back garden on a scorching-hot day.
Least favourite book?
Chamber of Secrets. I don't really know why. It's a quality book, and I know it sets up the wider arc and plan of the whole book series, but... I'm pretty annoyed this is a question!
Favourite movie?
Easily Prisoner of Azkaban. It was the very first HP film I saw in the cinema, and it's just brilliant. It had a more jolly feel than the others, and was beautifully done.
Least favourite movie?
I don't think I have one. If we're talking about the story itself, Chamber of Secrets.
Favourite Quote?
"It does not do to dwell on dreams and forget to live." - This is is a fan favourite, but I just love it.
Favourite Weasley?
Erm... Ginny!
Favourite villain?
Bellatrix Lestrange. She's just mad, completely obsessive and pure evil. There's something quite freeing about being that bad and evil, although it is quite disturbing to see the lengths she will go to to please her Dark Lord.
Favourite female character?
Hermione Jean Granger! I just adore her. She's been my favourite of the Golden Trio for as long as I can remember. When I first picked up the book I took inspiration from her bookishness and her ability at being an "insufferable-know-it-all."
Favourite male character?
Scorpius. I am Scorpius.
Favourite professor?
Probably Lupin. Aww.
Which House did you think you'd be in?
As a child I would have said Gryffindor, just as everyone did. It was the only House we really saw until the final few books. But I'm not a particularly brave or brash person, so that wouldn't fit at all.
Which House were you actually sorted into on Pottermore?
Ravenclaw!
Which class would be your favourite?
Transfiguration
Which spell do you think would be most useful to learn?
Reparo would be amazing. Also, Scourgify, because apparently menial and domestic tasks really bother me?
Which character do you think you'd be best friends with?
Hermione or Luna. If we're talking second generation; Scorpius, because I feel we'd be kindred spirits.
If you could own one of the Deathly Hallows, which would it be?
The Invisibility Cloak.
Favourite Marauder?
Sirius Black.
If you could bring one character back to life, who would it be?
Dobby! Waaaaaaaaaah!
Hallows or Horcruxes?
Well, considering what it takes to make a Horcrux, it would have to be Hallows. Has anyone actually answered Horcruxes? Hallows, not Horcruxes.
